Home - MoiNN

MoiNN means "Mobilität im Netzwerk Nord" (Mobility in Network North). It is an EU-supported project to establish a network between the Chamber of Trade in Lübeck and institutions, schools and businesses in Scandinavia and Germany.

Our goal is to

  • to establish a network between institutions, schools and businesses in Scandinavia and Germany;
  • to stir interest among German apprentices for Scandinavia, and among Scandinavian students and apprentices for Germany;
  • to provide apprentices and students with insight into the everyday life of a tradesman in the respective other country;
  • to establish an exchange between German and Scandinavian teachers and training personnel;
  • to provide Scandinavian students and apprentices from trade and crafts professions with internships in Germany (within the region accessible to the Chamber of Trade in Lübeck);
  • to provide German apprentices from trade and crafts professions with internships in Scandinavia (with the support of our network partners).

Our partner organizations are:

in Finland:

  • Etelä-Kymenlaakson ammattiopisto/Etelä-Kymenlaakso Vocational College/ Kotka
  • Omnia in Espoo (near Helsinki)

In Denmark:

  • CELF/Nykøbing
  • Syddansk Erhvervsskole Odense - Vejle

We would like to expand our network with additional network partners from Scandinavia.

MoiNN organizes 1- to 3-week internships for trade apprentices in Denmark, Sweden and Finland. For example, we organize 1-week internships as group tours, each consisting of up to 20 apprentices from different trade sectors (such as painters, brick layers, cabinet makers, carpenters, fitters, precision mechanics, electronic technicians, hair dressers, etc.). Two supervisors from the Chamber of Trade in Lübeck accompany the apprentices throughout the trip. The entire organization (lodging, meals, insurance, leisure and cultural program) and actual transportation are handled under the auspices of the Chamber of Trade in Lübeck. It means that all participants are always housed together at a youth hostel, and that they are covered by accident, health and liability insurance specifically tailored to foreign travel.

We also provide support to apprentices who wish to participate in an individual internship in Scandinavia, for example through stipend advising or assistance in the search for a suitable internship.

We cordially invite Scandinavian institutions who wish to participate in this exchange program to contact us. We will gladly assist you in locating an internship in the trade business, finding appropriate lodging, or in organizing a visit to schools or businesses.

Our experience shows that the apprentices are not the only ones who return to their home businesses with plenty of new impressions and experience. Many of the internship-providing businesses also value the opportunity to compare work attitudes and skills in this direct exchange of interns. By now, many of these Scandinavian businesses have taken in a German apprentice for a number of days, and German businesses who took in a Scandinavian apprentice report that this exchange has provided a highly interesting, satisfying and valuable experience.
